You no longer need annoying cables to connect your microphones or instruments to amplifiers or mixers. The slogan goes "No more cable salad on stage!". The diversity of products available, potentially unfamiliar terms such as mute, squelch, UHF, True Diversity, Scan or even legal matters might cause confusion though. With the turn of the year, however, a lot changed in this sector: As from January 1st 2006, professional users are allowed to use wireless microphones within the frequency ranges 790-814 as well as 838-862 MHz. Therefore, operating within the above frequency ranges, wireless microphones do not have to be registered anymore.
