The Opus 87 is an excellent condenser microphone (back electret) tailored for miking drums. It features a new, patented microphone mount with an integrated preamp which clamps right to the drum kit. The microphone capsule itself is mounted on a short gooseneck which allows optimum positioning of the microphone on the instrument. It is connected via a built-in 3-pin XLR connector.
The microphone clip is also available without the preamp (model MKV 87) with an integrated 3/8” thread.
