Care & Maintenance
The most important point about cleaning a brass wind instrument is that it is cleaned both from the inside and out. This guarantees untroubled joy when playing and a long life. Another interesting point is the hygiene factor. Bacteria and germs can lair inside the instrument or the mouthpiece and spread rapidly, if you only clean it sufficiently. They become noticeable through their strong smell that comes out of the case. Bacteria can also attack the instrument´s material and destroy it on the long-run.
It is also important to clean the valves or the train, ´cause if not, they´ll close quickly and influence your sound drastically. The resulting costs are immeasurable or in the worst case the caused damage irreparable.
The mechanics of wooden wind instruments also need regular care in order to function faultlessly. There are different oils for this. Furthermore, they also must be kept clean from the inside. Clamminess attacks the padding and other material. Interior wipers avoid this from happening and at the same time prevent additional costs. Bacteria and germs can also eat their way through the different materials. Wooden instruments should also gain extra care, as they can easily get shakes.
