Electronic Drums
E-drums have two plus factors: On the one hand their sound modules already hold a large number of interesting sounds and on the other hand different sequences can be played soundlessly, so you won´t have any problems with your neighbours. Complete e-drum-sets can be played like normal drum-sets. Each drum and cymbal is equipped with a rubber-pad or skin including the wiring and is hung up like an original kit.
Depending on the price class the sound modules offer additional inputs to extend further pads. All you need now is a foot-pedal and then you can get started. You can listen through your head-phones or an attached music system. If you want to spend more money, you can get an input for each instrument you need. This way you´ll be more flexible concerning the mixdown of the e-drum - no matter if you´re on stage or in a studio.
What´s more important though are the intrinsic values. Professional e-drums do not only offer more sound sequences, they also offer more possibilities to edit them according to your personal style. First league e-drums also even offer sampling-functions to import do-it-youself sounds. So you can say that e-drums reach up to the playing experience of an original set, even though they could never replace them - just like e-guitars and keyboards would never replace acoustic guitars or pianos.
Small triggers that can be mounted onto natural drum-sets are also quite interesting. They can trigger off electronic sounds from their sound modules. Small systems in the size of a briefcase which also consist of several pads are also a wise expansion for your normal kit.
