Orville Gibson founded his company in 1902. It was quite early that he realised that solid curved wood had the best feedback features. This is why he designed a new family of mandolins and guitars that quickly became the best instruments of their kind.

During the years he continuously set new measures in the field of instrument building. In 1952 he introduced the Les Paul – the one and only rock ´n roll guitar - which is celebrating its 50th birthday and still remains the synonym for modern music.

As music developed forward, Gibson remained state of the art even though many other builders were often ahead of their time creating instruments that became classics many years later. The global and tight cooperation with many musicians always lead to corrections and new developments in the guitar sector.
