Gibson Signature Joe Bonamassa Les Paul
Joe Bonamassa was born 8th May 1977 in Utica, where his father owned a guitar shop. He started playing the guitar at the age of four - a Chiquita Mini Guitar. At the age of 12 he already was playing with B. B. King. With 14 he was invited to support a Fender event. During this journey he met Berry Oakley Jr., the son of the Allman Brothers´ bass-player. Joe and Berry, and Erin Davis (Miles Davis´ son) and Waylon Krieger (Roger Krieger´s son)founded the band "Bloodline" and produced an album with EMI.
His first solo-album, "A New Day Yesterday", was produced by Tom Dowd in 2000. This second, more rocky album hit no. 1 in the billboard blues charts. During the tour for the album, the demand for a more traditional blues-album grew, what finally led the band to produce the album "Blues Deluxe" in 2003 - the "Year of Blues". On the album there are mainly cover-versions of well-known blues classics, and three own compositions. This album also reached no. 1 in the billboard blues charts. In the meantime the avowed Rory Gallagher and Stevie Ray Vaughan fan has released his seventh album.
The Les Paul that Joe Bonamassa had tailor-made for himself, has a lot of special features. The body, for example, is not made of one piece of mahogony like usual, but out of two piece which are defined as "light mahogony". The neck has a 59er profile and closed grover-mechanics. The ABR-bridge does not have a spring that fixes the runners, so that it doesn´t rattle and the runners of the discant-strings are made of plastic. The tail-piece is, obviously, made of light aluminium. Another special wish of Joe was to have different poti-knobs. This way the neck-pickup can be regulated with knobs in 50s style, whereas the bridge-pickup still has knobs in 60s style.
The Joe Bonamassa Les Paul is equipped with .011er strings and appears in a well-appealing aged finish.
