1974
The first Musik Produktiv store (90 m²!) opens in Ubostraße, Ibbenbüren.
Anecdote: "A long, long time ago a young, long haired musician figured he should do his fellow musicians some good. He followed his instinct and counted on his sales abilities and so boarded a ferry to the land of milk and honey - the home of those obscure objects of lust, like those of a certain Jim Marshall. Here, people revered the goods, as if they were the standing before the messiah, many were able to obtain them in exchange for some silver coins or a side of beef. The triumphal procession had begun ..."

1978
In the seventies and eighties there were hardly any media available with which musicians could inform themselves about instruments and technical equipment. Computers or even the internet were visions from Starwars and so Musik Produktiv invented its handbook for Musicians. The first issue was written with an old typewriter and copied in a cellar on a matrix machine. The first ever handbook included information to amplifiers, frequency ranges, microphones and other "Secrets of the modern musicians life".
The intro of the first 70 page catalogue in 1978: "You can try out lots of gear in our store. We have more than 30 different effects units ... we have installed several microphones and you can compare the sound differences with headphones. We stock more than 10 different mixers, and have more than 20 PA speakers lined up next to one another, so you can switch from speaker to speaker and combine ..."

Musik Produktiv´s darkest day. An overheated rechargeable lithium battery sparks a fire that destroys the entire foyer. The fire alarms call the fire brigade at 7.26 AM.
