Alvarez Artist AP66SB · Acoustic Guitar
The '66 models are beautifully finished and have a very deep high gloss vintage sunburst lacquer.
A solid African Mahogany top provides a focused sound with strong mids, making this Western guitar ideal for studio and live work!
As a typical Parlor model, the Alvarez Artist AP66SB has a neck body transition at the 12th fret.

I have to admit I've a soft spot for small bodied guitars and because of its low price this was an impulse buy - couldn't resist the temptation!
The body is slightly bigger than a standard parlour and closer the old Martin OO series, which gives it more volume and projection, definitely less compressed sounding than a typical O sized parlour.
Combined with a 24" scale the 44mm (1 3/4" inch) nut width is roomy and great for fingerstyle playing (despite having small hands).
The solid mahogany shadow burst top looks and sounds beautiful - albeit brighter sounding than other OOO mahogany top guitars I have, which is nice and just what i was after sound-wise.
There were some minor blemishes on the lacquer finish around the slot head (hence 4 stars), but nothing serious. And the action is a little high for my liking, nothing a professional set up wouldn't correct.
Definitely better than my Tanglewood parlour, this has become my go-to guitar - so no regrets on the impulse purchase.....well may be i should have bought the masterworks series version of the guitar! Recommended.
