Pepote

His profession started of when José “Pepote” Hernández Diaz aged 13 years visits a concert by Paco de Lucía, accompanied by Rubén Dantas and Manolo Soler on Cajon. Fascinated by the "box drum" he starts building his first Cajon.

Since living in Andalusia Pepote can’t find any references to the Cajons in journals ,books or even in music stores so he starts to experiment with different woods and shapes. Soon after, he sold his first instruments to a regional music shop. After training as an instrument maker he founded in 1990 Cajon Manufacturers "Pepote Percusión". He meets the percussionist Agustín Dias Sera , an important fellow who will help shape with his ideas and sound experience the sound of Pepote cajones.

Today Pepote one of the leading Cajon makers worldwide. Selected materials, permanent and innovative developments and the experience of more than 25 years Cajon construction go hand in hand with great sound, excellent workmanship and elegant look.
