Fender Albert Collins Telecaster, NAT · Electric Guitar

Albert Collins (born October 1, 1932 in Leona, Texas, died 24 November 1993) was an American blues guitarist and singer. His fans gave him some nicknames, such as Ice Man or Master of the Telecaster. He played in the open guitar tuning F-minor (f-c-f-g#-c-f), which is unusual for blues musicians. In addition to that, he played a capo at the 7th fret of his electric guitar, so that Collins also played in the rhythm still in relatively high positions. He was neither plectrum nor thumb picker, but plucked with thumb and index finger of the right hand. Curiously, he usually did not carry the guitar strap over the left shoulder, as usual, but only slipped his right arm through the belt, so he had only the right shoulder. A futher "gimmick" was the use of a very long guitar cable, which enabled Collins to play with the audience, or even to leave the premises at small clubs to play on the street. Gary Moore played the album "Still got the Blues" with Albert Collins and Albert King as a guest musician in 1990. "Ice Man" Collins accompanied the ensuing tour as a guest musician.

Custom Artist Series
One of the first Custom Shop customers was Eric Clapton, who was looking for a substitute guitar for his beloved "Blackie". All individual features of the instruments, which are otherwise not found on the usual mass production models are maintained and then made series-ready. In addition to the now quite extensive Signature Series, there have been a few, even higher-quality models from the Custom Artist Series.

Fender Custom Artist
In the custom artist series, you will find the somewhat more exclusive signed Fender instruments. The amount of instruments on offer is manageable. They are few and far between, but sometimes you´ll find a limited edition from this nobel brand that has actually left the USA..!!
Until now, from the normal "Signature Series" only the Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck Strats were honoured with a Custom Artist variation. All other contestants hold a very exclusive seat in this exquisite club.
