(Page 104/105 BOTB) A look at Carmelita is enough and you can see why lovers of original vintage Gibsons have traced the history of this guitar from the US mainland to Hawaii and back again. The significant grain of her maple top is immediately identifiable, even though she was given various nicknames due to several owner changes. After "The Claw" and "The Hawaiian Burst" it has been renamed by its two current owners in "Carmelita". "The Claw" refers to three finger-wide flames in the grain of the original guitar, exactly between the pickups.
