In 1957 Eddie Cochran had his first chart success after appearing in the films The Girl Can't Help It (1 December 1956) and Untamed Youth (10 May 1957) His first hit was with Sittin' in the Balcony from John D. Loudermilk. This was followed by an Australian tour with Gene Vincent and Little Richard. His greatest hit was in 1958 with Summertime Blues . Eddie Cochran died in April 1960, one day after the end of a tour through Britain, which he and his friend Gene Vincent completed, during a taxi ride between Bath and Chippenham, when a tire burst on the vehicle and the car collided with a lamppost.
