The rainmaker originates from the very dry Atacama desert in north Chile and is used in Rain ceremonies, hearing the rain then conjuring it up. The original Rainmaker was made of dead and lignified cactus. The spines would be removed the pushed from the outside in . Before they closed up the ends they would put some gravel inside. The movement of the rainmaker causes the gravel to travel over the spines and create the sound. The longer the tube then the longer the duration of the rain sound .
