Yamaha FG/FS Series
Since the introduction of the legendary FG series over 35 years ago, Western guitars from Yamaha have become one of the best and most popular instruments in the acoustic scene. A first-class quality, extremely fair prices and constant model maintenance have ensured that the FGs are still among the absolute bestsellers in the range.
Generations of guitarists - amateurs and professionals - have already given their confidence to the FG series instruments. The Dreadnoughts impress with a perfect sound and an indestructible quality. Each of the FGs is equipped with the ingenious L-block. The specially designed block guarantees a perfect connection between the neck and body, improves the sustain, the and the sound projection and thus provides an great performance. But that's not all, only high-quality, Sitka spruce is used for the tops. In combination with the elaborately adapted non-scalloped bracings, not only the vibration behavior and the response of the instruments could be further improved. The sound-shaping centers also make the new FGs more focused than ever before. Precise working die-cast tuners complete the offer.

These scalloped braced guitar sounds fantastic.
I am refurbishing my old Yamaha FG340 from -78. I am doing the work myself... Well if I not will succeed a 100% with it I thought I should buy a less worn, good and for decent money...
I like the Yamaha sound and I trust their quality in manufacturing.
I read about these new scalloped bracing in these lower budget guitars.. Solid sitka spruce top and nato (Asian mahogany) and rosewood fretboard... . What can be wrong with that.
I ordered the guitar and got it delivered rather quick, in perfect condition.
The sound is amazing. It comes stringed with Yamaha's own or D'addario strings. You can not believe it is a budget guitar.
The sound and the sustain are really improved with this scalloped bracing.
The FG800M is a bit lighter (weightvise) than my old FG340. Playability is the same. I feel very at home with it.
The only flaws I can mention are, on my guitar the sikta spruce top has irregularities in its woodstructure. I also could spot some unworked polish wax on the neck joint.
I have decided to like it as it is because of its fantastic sound. It does what a good guitar/instrument should do... It seduces You to continue playing.
Based on my own experience, I know these guitars are perfect matched with Martin Phosfor Bronze strings 0.12-0.54.
This is one of my best buys ever. I definately recommend other to buy this guitar.
Almost full 5 stars, because the small flaws.. Don'n get misguided by this. I is still a fantastic instrument for the low price.
